Isami Hanaoka is just a fifth grader who happens to be a descendant of the Shinsengumi. Together with fellow descendants and classmates Soshi Yukimi and Toshi Tsukikage, she discovers in the basement of her home, strange artifacts left behind by their ancestors as well as a message urging them to "Fight the evil Kurotengu organization." The three of them decide to form a new Shinsengumi to defeat this horrible enemy. Source: ANN

A few episodes were professionally released in the USA in 3 DVDs under the title "Soar High! Isami", but this lovely series was never finished and most people never heard of it.
Series directed by Tatsuo Satou, who also directed Nadesico, Stellvia of the Universe and Rinne no Lagrange.
